If you ‘ve just got the Motorola Droid X2 and want to root it than you will be glad to know that the Developers have successfully rooted the Droid X2 even with a single Click using Gingerbreak. Pre-root Instructions:This will VOID your warranty, though the warranty can be claimed after un rooting the device.This is a Factory-Reset for your Tablet. So you can Sync your Contacts with Google Contact service or Backup rest of messages, Phone by using MyBackup Pro. Make sure to copy the Contents of SD card to your PC as it will remove the cache from your Memory card.Before proceeding Please ensure that your tablet has at least 50% battery so that it can’t interrupt the rooting process.Proceed at your own risk. Download the Gingerbreak.apk (found here) or mirror here and extract it.

Copy this .apk and install it on your Droid. Follow this tutorial to install .apk files from PC.
After installing this app, click on Root Device Option
After selecting the option, you will have to wait for some time till the rooting process is completed. Please note that the device may take up to 10 minutes as it also wipes the cache in your phone.
After installation is completed, you will also need to install applications such as Busybox. You can install them from Android Market. And make sure Superuser.apk is installed on your Droid x2 and working perfect.
UN Rooting Instructions:Now, in case your Droid x2 is having some problems and you want to claim its warranty. Simply uninstall the Gingerbreak application.
Viola, in this way you have successfully rooted your Droid x2 or alternatively you have Un rooted your Droid x2.
