Apple stock remains strong buy

According to J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz, Apple stock remains a strong buy and has “plenty of gas in the tank” for a continued increase in price, even with recent recent volatility.

In a note to clients early Tuesday, Moskowitz said he expects Apple to beat both his estimates and the Wall Street consensus when it reports its third quarter of fiscal 2011 results next week. He attributed the stock’s recent fluctuations to the change in investor expectations as a result of “iPhone 5 vs. iPhone 4-plus soothsaying and the speculation over iPad 2 shortages.”

According to the analyst, concerns of shortages are “overdone,” as the firm’s research indicates that “most Apple stores are fully sourced.” He also pointed to the recent shift in Apple’s lead times for the iPad 2 from 1-2 weeks to 3-5 days as evidence that the company’s supply woes have improved.

Samsung drops infringement suit against Apple

It looks like Samsung knows when enough is enough and has dropped their patent infringement suit against Apple.

Samsung Electronics dropped the suit on June 30 “to streamline the legal proceedings,” Nam Ki Yung, a spokesman for the Suwon, South Korea-based company, said today in a telephone interview. Samsung will continue to defend its patent rights through a counter-claim in an earlier suit Apple filed at the same court in San Jose, California, he said.

iOS 5 announced, Apple registers tons of domain names, and more in this week’s mobile news

To start off with, Apple announced iOS 5 this week. Here is a list of features.

It looks like iOS 5 will run just fine on the iPhone 3GS. If you have not already check out the video we posted yesterday.

Does the fact that the ‘iPod’ icon is changing to ‘Music’ in iOS 5 mean Apple is ditching the iPod?

Apple registered at least 50 new domain names on 6/6/2011, the day of WWDC. A good sign of what is to come.

Apple has modified the in-app subscription policy that says in-app subscriptions must be sold at the same price as outside the app.

In het forum van MijniPad.net kwam iemand met vragen over 3G, aangezien ik zelf geen 3G op mijn iPad heb…, ben ik op het internet gaan zoeken. Maar ik heb niet een goed antwoord kunnen vinden…, dus de helpdesk gebeld;

Mijn vraag aan de jongeman van de helpdesk;

En de helpdesk medewerker ging nog even door;

Ik wist even niet wat ik hoorde;
En op dat moment gaf ik hem dan ook maar ‘het anwoord’;

Maar-> dat wist hij al!

Apple Care telefoonnummer helpdesk iPad/Apple

www.apple.com/support/country

Apple might Announce Back-to-School special at WWDC, a free iPod Touch or discount on iPad?

With WWDC coming closer, the rumors are spreading as what to expect from Apple, iPhone 4S or iPhone 5? iOS 5? But this one is kind of different. So, good news for Apple fans, folks at BGR have informed that Apple might be announcing back-to-school special at WWDC which is going to be held next month. This might be an awesome news for students, as Apple will offer educational discounts up to $200 on iPad, or a free iPod Touch with a purchase of a new Mac. Sources at BGR says that Apple will surprise their fans with some new offers.

Microsoft already announced a free Xbox with Windows PCs priced $700. It seems that Apple is trying to compete with Microsoft with this offering.

back to school Apple might Announce Back to School special at WWDC, a free iPod Touch or discount on iPad?

Here is what BGR said:

One of our Apple sources has informed us that they’ve been hearing Apple’s yearly back-to-school special will be announced at WWDC next month. We have been told Apple will continue to offer educational discounts on computers and either a free iPod touch, or $229 towards the purchase of any other iPod. Our source also let us know that there might be something new in the works, as well… they heard that it’s possible Apple might offer students up to $200 off an iPad with the purchase of a new Mac. If true, this would be pretty great deal. If only Apple could make enough of them…

The question is that will Apple keep up the pace of production if the offer hits ?

Photo: Why We Should Be Glad Apple Delayed The White iPhone 4

(Unreleased white iPhone 4 on left; released model on right)

At this point, your white iPhone 4 probably looks pretty nasty — at least, it will if you’re one of the few who have been walking around for months with a pre-release prototype.

The New York Times‘ Nick Bilton managed to track down someone who nabbed a white iPhone 4 from one of the first, unreleased batches, and put it side by side with one just released last week. Outside of a few minor aesthetics tweaks (modified proximity sensor and camera lens), there’s one key difference: that old one looks gnarly. The white has faded to a greyish-yellow, while the edge of the face seems particularly attracted to dirt and grime.

We’ll have to check back in a few months to see how the officially-released white iPhone 4 is fairing in its battle against pocket dirt and sunlight.

Apple iPad: 82% Market share?

Don't forget to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

So much for iPad competitors putting up a decent challenge against it. We recently heard rumors about Apple rivals not being able to move their tablets fast enough. A survey by Nielsen Company gives us more reasons to believe that may be the case. The study shows that iPad has 82% market-share in the tablet market (the slight majority being 3G iPads). Samsung Galaxy Tab is 2nd with only 4% market-share with Dell Streak running at third.

Credit: nielsen.com

Among those surveyed, about 50% were the only ones to use their tablets in their household whereas 43% of folks shared their tablets with others. This survey also confirms what many experts have been saying about desktop computers. With only 24 hours in each day, it is inevitable that using tablets will lead to people neglecting their desktop computers.

As you can see in the above chart, tablets are affecting the netbook, e-reader, desktop, and gaming markets. With Apple focused on challenging Amazon in the e-book industry, We can expect iPad 3 to be even more e-book friendly. Apple competitors have a lot of work to do to catch up to it.

Apple will Unveil Future of iOS and Mac OS X at WWDC 2011 on June 6

Apple has announced the official dates for this year’s WWDC – Worldwide Developers Conference 2011, to be held at Moscone West in San Francisco, California. WWDC 2011 will be held from June 6th to June 10th with loads of exciting demonstrations from Apple for the Developers.

WWDC2011 Apple will Unveil Future of iOS and Mac OS X at WWDC 2011 on June 6

Apple will unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS X at the five-day conference. The future versions of operating systems, iOS 5 and Mac OS X 10.7 – Lion bring all new opportunities for iOS or Mac OS X software developers which they should not miss, according to Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

From the activities happening at Worldwide Developers Conference 2011, Apple has listed down the following activities in the press release:

Activities at Apple’s WWDC 2011 include:

– More than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers on a wide range of technology-specific topics for developing, deploying and integrating the latest iOS and Mac OS technologies;

– Over 1,000 Apple engineers providing developers with code-level assistance, insight into optimal development techniques, and guidance on how they can make the most of iOS and Mac OS technologies in their apps;

– The opportunity to connect with thousands of fellow iPad®, iPhone® and Mac developers from around the world; and

– Apple Design Awards which recognize iPad, iPhone and Mac apps that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design.

Apple released a developer preview of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, back in february, which will be completely unveiled at WWDC, along with the announcement of launch dates. But there are no signs of the much rumored iPhone 5 or other hardware unveiling at WWDC, anywhere in the keynote.

Apple “Fixes” iOS, iOS 5 To Get OTA Updates?

Don't forget to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Apple has finally decided to do something about “the bugs” in the iOS that led to people getting tracked by their phones at all times. iOS 4.3.3 reduce the size of the cache and does not back up location data to users’ computers. A can of worms was opened when it was revealed that Apple was tracking its customers. It could be a huge security threat. Let’s not forget that some people still prefer having some privacy.
This data is sent to Apple in an anonymous and encrypted form. Apple cannot identify the source of this data
iPhone owners using this new update can get rid of their cache by turning of location services. While these changes do not completely stop the tracking practice, they do give people a chance to be in control of what their device does.
For now, Apple does not offer over the air updates. But that could be about to change with the company working with Verizon to offer over the air updates for Verizon iPhones. Such a practice would make it much easier for Apple to push patches to iOS devices. Those of you who have owned your iPhone for quite some time are probably frustrated by the way the current update/sync process works. It could take a whole lot to time and does seem to be an overkill at times (the way Apple performs it). Many expect iOS 5 to offer huge improvements over iOS 4.x. Adding over-the-air updates to it is a good start.
On a related note, Apple won’t be accepting reviews from people who use promo codes from developers. That could have major ramifications for developers and how they can go about promoting their apps. That also means people working for app review sites (such as ours) won’t be able to leave reviews on iTunes for some of the apps they have tested. Still, this move could improve the quality of reviews received on iTunes.
